We have an awesome schedule of classes next week (February 21 – February 26) for kids home for winter break. Please email us and we will email you the schedule. We will be teaching how to make fondant animals, including the bunnies featured in the photo below. We have another class called Ribbons and Bows, where we will be teaching how to make a box cake with a ribbon pictured here. We also have a very cool class featuring this 3-D Airplane! Classes are open to kids starting at age 6 years through teen. Here are some photos of cupcakes and cakes we will be making:

Since we opened the doors to our new retail location, October 12, we have received so many requests for classes for both kids and adults. Well, we decided to offer our first Fondant Cake Decorating class to kids during the MLK school break on Monday. We were recently asked by one of our customers to give a semi “private” class to her two boys, ages 8 and 12. They are huge Cake Boss fans and have been dying to learn how to cover a cake in fondant. We agreed to host them and they had a blast. We sent each of them home with a beautiful fondant cake which they did entirely on their own. We are offering this same class on Monday. Class sizes are limited. You will learn:
How to trim a cake
How to crumb coat and ice a 2-layer cake
How to apply a fondant covering
Basic cake decorating skills
You will be able to choose between a Splurge Bakery vanilla or chocolate fudge cake.
There are three sessions to choose from:
10 am – 12 pm
1 pm – 3 pm (almost sold out)
4 pm – 6 pm
Price is $50.00 for the 2 hour class and you will go home with a 6″ 2 layer cake.

I have been so remiss in taking photos of all the great cookies we’ve been doing. Here is one from last week - our approach for cookie favors for a milestone anniversary. We love to put the original wedding photo on a cookie and tie with gold ribbon. It will get a real “look at this!” moment from friends and family! Our client here called us the next day just overwhelmed with how beautiful her cookies looked and how special everything was. Mail us the photo (we will return it to you), or scan your photo at a high resolution, 300 dpi, and email to us. Your anniversary cookie favors will be a special touch to a very special milestone event!

I realized I have not posted a blog in a long time – sorry about that – time seems to pass so quickly! We have lots of exciting things going on at Splurge Bakery. We continue to produce some of the most creative, and beautiful personalized cookies on the market for milestone parties and corporate events. In addition, we are busy expanding our offering of personalized desserts. One of our latest additions in an incredibly delicious chocolate chip cookie cake – good enough for adults and children alike. As a testament to Splurge Bakery’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake, we received a call from a friend of ours who needed a special gift to get him in the door at some of the top advertising agencies in NYC. He noticed our cookie cake on our website and ordered a dozen of them with his logo and a special Valentine’s Day message. The cookie cake “door opener” was a huge success. He had agency people, who are normally very difficult to get on the phone, call him to say “thank you” for the most delicious chocolate chip cookie cake they have ever had! As he follow-up with the others, he was able to get appointments with them very easily. What better way to make a lasting impression than with a delicious Splurge Bakery Chocolate Chip Cookie Cake delivered to your door. We can put any message or image on the cake, just like our personalized cookies. By the way, we don’t think frosting mixes very well with chocolate chip cookies – we prefer to use more high quality chocolate as our icing…..Yum!

We love 1st birthday parties – I remember planning my daughter’s first birthday, it’s such a special time. Frankly, I wanted so much to find something personalized that would show off her name and feature her. Here I was, living in New York City, and I could not find what I was looking for, which got me thinking about a personalized cookie business I ended up starting! I settled on black and white cookies – except I had them made purple and white – with my daughter’s name written in icing. Not a bad idea, in fact I plan on introducing black and whites later this year. But now, Splurge Bakery offers such cool personalized favors for your baby’s 1st birthday. What better way to send out a holiday invitation than on a delicious Splurge Bakery cookie! Westcare Health System, from North Carolina, asked us to do just that. Each cookie measured 5″x3″ and came individually wrapped with a beautiful cranberry satin ribbon. Don’t you wish you could receive an invitation to this holiday party!

Uncle Gene celebrated his 99th Birthday last night at Tavern On The Green in New York City. As he will tell you, he is actually 3 days into his 100th year (his actual birthday was on October 14). Of course, Splurge Bakery cookie favors were there celebrating along with everyone else! We used a photo of Uncle Gene taken when he was 89, flying in a helicopter over Buenos Aires with the President! We’ve posted a few photos so you can see how Tavern on the Green set-up our very special Birthday Milestone Cookie Favors!
